What Other Abortion Restrictions Does Georgia Have?
There are Georgia restrictions around abortion you should be aware of:
- Pregnant women cannot use the abortion pill method after about six weeks of pregnancy (when a fetal heartbeat can usually be detected) unless certain exceptions apply.
- The patient must provide an ultrasound report to prove that there is no heartbeat, which typically develops around the 6th week of pregnancy.
- Legal exceptions include pregnancies that threaten the life or health of the mother, the pregnancy is not viable, the fetus will not survive, or the pregnancy is a result of reported rape or incest.
Where Can I Get an Ultrasound?

An ultrasound can also help you determine the gestational age (how far along you are) and the pregnancy’s location (some pregnancies form outside the uterus).
